The upcoming ONA34 elections are an opportunity for members to play an active role in shaping the future of our Local. We encourage every member to learn more about the nomination and election process and consider whether there is a position they would like to put their name forward for.
There are a variety of Local and Bargaining Unit positions available, each offering members an opportunity to contribute their skills, experience, and perspective. Whether you are interested in advocacy, health and safety, negotiations, labour relations, or supporting members in another capacity, your experience and voice can make a difference.
You do not need to be a union expert to get involved. If you believe you have the skills and commitment to take on a position, we encourage you to explore the opportunities, review the requirements, and consider putting your name forward.
The nomination process is your opportunity to step up. The election process is your opportunity to make your voice heard.
We also encourage all members to participate in the election by learning about the candidates, understanding the positions they are running for, and casting your vote. An engaged membership is what makes our ONA34 strong.

Three-Year Term — January 1st, 2027 until December 31st, 2029
This year we will be holding elections for various positions on our Local/Bargaining Unit team. Check here often as we will post election updates, including our call for nominations, candidate/voting information and election results.
Key Dates:
All Local 34 and Bargaining Unit positions are up for election for the 2027–2029 term. Members are encouraged to consider running for a leadership position and helping shape the future of our Local. Specific positions, responsibilities, and nomination requirements will be outlined during the Call for Nominations period.

We are seeking 10 volunteers to serve as scrutineers for the upcoming election.
Availability and Scheduling
Scrutineers should be prepared to work extended hours on Election Day, with the potential work period being from 0630 hrs to midnight.
When completing the Expression of Interest form, please indicate the hours you are available to work. This will allow us to coordinate scheduling and ensure adequate coverage throughout the day.
Please note that any time away from your regular work schedule will need to be requested through your manager and is subject to their approval, as well as the operational needs of your unit.
Scrutineer Responsibilities
Scrutineers may be responsible for the following duties:
Additional instructions and guidance will be provided to selected scrutineers prior to Election Day.
Expression of Interest Deadline
The deadline to submit your Expression of Interest is August 20th 2026 at 1600 hrs.
Those selected to serve as scrutineers will be notified on August 25th 2026. Before submitting your Expression of Interest, please ensure that you are willing and able to commit to the hours and responsibilities outlined above. Due to the scheduling and coordination required for Election Day, it can be very difficult to find a replacement if a selected scrutineer is unable to fulfill their commitment.
Please carefully consider your availability before expressing your interest so that we can ensure adequate coverage and a smooth election process.
