ONA34 Member Satisfaction 2026 Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our ONA 34 Member Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is important to us and provides valuable insight into what is working well, where members feel supported, and where there are opportunities for ONA34 to continue improving.
Overall, the survey results are encouraging. The majority of members indicated that they are happy to work in a unionized environment and recognize the value that ONA provides. The majority of members have also reached out to an ONA representative with questions about the collective agreement, workplace rights, or other entitlements, demonstrating the important role ONA34 representatives play in supporting members and helping them navigate workplace issues.
The survey also showed that 85% of ONA34 members know how to contact their ONA34 representatives when they need assistance. At the same time, it was clear that some members at our newest unionized site would benefit from additional support and education about who their ONA34 representatives are, how to contact them, and when they should reach out for assistance. Ensuring that all members have equal access to their union representatives and understand how to access union support will be an educational priority for ONA34 in the coming months.
Members also provided positive feedback about communication. The majority are satisfied with the amount of communication they currently receive from ONA 34, while approximately 10% indicated that they would like to receive more communication. We will continue to consider how we can provide meaningful and timely information while ensuring that communications remain useful and accessible to members.
Importantly, the majority of members believe that ONA members are represented fairly and equitably. Members who have accessed ONA support related to return-to-work matters, WSIB, or LTD reported feeling supported, heard, and advocated for by their ONA34 representative. Similarly, the majority of members who have filed workload complaints indicated that they felt supported by their ONA34 representative.
The survey also provides valuable insight into how members are using their union. Members are more likely to raise grievances and workload concerns, while they are less likely to file health and safety complaints. We see this as an important area where we can continue to improve. ONA34 is exploring opportunities to provide increased education about the Occupational Health and Safety Act, members’ health and safety rights, and how to appropriately identify, raise, and address health and safety concerns in the workplace.
The written comments also provided valuable insight into the issues that matter most to members. A large majority of the written comments related to provincial issues, including benefits, wages, and other matters that fall outside the scope of the local collective agreement and are not within the ability of ONA34 to address locally. These comments are important and deserve to be heard. ONA34 has forwarded these comments directly to ONA Provincial for consideration and follow-up, as these matters fall within their jurisdiction. We appreciate members taking the time to raise these concerns and want to ensure that their feedback reaches the appropriate level of ONA.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide thoughtful individual comments as part of the survey. Many members shared kind words, kudos, and praise for their ONA representatives. These messages have been shared directly with the ONA representatives who were recognized.
I also want to take this opportunity to publicly thank all of our ONA34 representatives for the work they do on behalf of our members. The survey results were clear that your advocacy, support and commitment to ONA34 members do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.
A strong union is built through member participation, communication, education, and a willingness to identify areas where we can do better. We appreciate the feedback, both positive and constructive, and will use it to help guide our ongoing work on behalf of ONA34 members.
In solidarity,
Ann Scott
