Dear ONA 34 Members,
I’m pleased to share an update regarding the Letter of Understanding (LOU) that supports members who wish to return to school to pursue nursing-related education.
As required under the LOU, the parties met in October to review the agreement and ensure it continues to reflect its intended purpose. Following our discussions, we made some minor changes to clarify the language and better reflect the intent of the LOU.
The updated LOU is attached for your review.

We encourage members who are considering further education to familiarize themselves with the agreement and the process for submitting an Expression of Interest.
Important dates for members planning to begin school in January 2027:
- November 15, 2026: Deadline to submit your Expression of Interest.
- November 30, 2026: Deadline for the hospital to issue approvals for these requests.
Please ensure your Expression of Interest is submitted by the November 15 deadline if you wish to be considered for a January 2027 start.
